Second Chance Love

I’ve Built My Life Through Technology and Travel, and I Still Want Someone to Share It With

My name is Michael, I’m 56 years old, and most of my life has been shaped by two things: work and movement.

I’ve worked in technology for decades. Started when things were still simpler, stayed through all the changes, and built something solid over time. It wasn’t overnight, but it worked out well. Today I’m financially comfortable, and I have more control over my time than I used to.

I was married for many years. My wife passed away some time ago, and since then, life has been different. Not worse, just quieter in a way that takes time to get used to.

Work used to take most of my attention, but over the years I started shifting that. I still stay involved in what I built, but I don’t feel the need to be present all the time anymore. That gave me space to focus on things I had always put aside.

Cooking became one of them. I’ve always liked good food, but now I actually take the time to prepare it myself. I enjoy trying dishes from different places, figuring out how they’re made, and adjusting them to my taste. It’s something simple, but it keeps me engaged.

Travel is the other part of my life that grew naturally. At first it was work-related, then it became something I do for myself. I like going to places that feel different from what I’m used to. Not just to see them, but to spend time there, understand how people live, what they eat, how things work day to day.

Sometimes I travel in a more structured way, other times I keep it open. There are trips where I plan everything, and others where I just decide as I go. Every now and then, depending on the distance and timing, I charter a private jet. It’s not something I do all the time, but it makes certain trips easier and gives me flexibility.

One place that stayed with me was the Philippines. I didn’t go there with big expectations, but it turned out to be one of the more interesting experiences I’ve had. I spent time outside the usual tourist areas, in smaller coastal towns. The pace is different, people are more direct, and there’s a strong sense of community.

I remember being invited to share a meal with a local family. It wasn’t planned. Someone I met during the day just asked if I wanted to join. We sat outside, simple setup, fresh fish, rice, and a few dishes I had never tried before. Nothing formal, but it was one of the most genuine meals I’ve had.

Moments like that are what keep me traveling.

These days, my routine isn’t fixed in one place. I spend time at home, I work when needed, I cook, and I travel when I feel like it makes sense.

I live well, I’m comfortable, and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything essential. But I do think it would be good to share this part of life with someone.

I’m not looking for anything complicated. Just a woman around my age, someone who enjoys traveling, trying new food, understanding different cultures, and is comfortable moving between places without needing everything planned.

I’m not interested in apps or anything like that. I prefer things to happen naturally, through real conversations and shared interests.

For now, I keep doing what I’ve been doing. Working at my own pace, cooking, planning the next trip, and staying open to whatever comes next. If I meet someone who fits into that, then it’s something I’d welcome.
