Second Chance Love

I Built a Successful Life… But Something Always Felt Missing (Part 1)

For most of my life, I focused on work. Not because I had to… but because it made sense at the time. Looking back now, I’m not sure when that became everything.

I’m 52 now. I’ve built companies, made good decisions, and managed to create a life that, from the outside, looks exactly how I once imagined success would look.

I have a comfortable home, financial stability, and a routine that works. There’s nothing dramatic about it. But there’s also something… missing.

Most nights follow the same pattern. I get home, take off my watch, put my phone on the table, and sit down for a bit before doing anything else.

Sometimes I scroll through messages. Sometimes I don’t. There usually isn’t much there anyway. I was in a relationship years ago. It ended quietly. No big fight, no dramatic moment.

Just different priorities. At least that’s how I explained it back then. She wanted something I wasn’t ready to give. And I chose to focus on work instead.

I don’t think about it every day. But every now and then, I remember something she said before we stopped talking.

“One day, you might have everything you’re working for… but no one to share it with.”

At the time, it sounded like something people say when they’re emotional. Now… I understand it differently.

A few days ago, something small changed. Nothing big. Just one of those moments where your routine feels a little off.

I left the house earlier than usual, without much of a plan…

Conntinue…
